PHOENIX — The son of Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce has been sentenced to six days in jail for a probation violation.
Court records show 30-year-old Joshua Trent Pearce acknowledged violating his probation stemming from a February arrest on two outstanding warrants tied to a probation violation and for failing to appear for a court hearing in January.
The Arizona Republic reports Joshua Pearce initially tried to fight the probation violation, but admitted to it on March 30 in Maricopa County Superior Court and was given a short jail term and ordered to pay a $3,300 fine.
Court documents show Joshua Pearce has been diagnosed as bipolar and suffers from depression, anxiety and intermittent explosive behavior.
Russell Pearce is a Mesa Republican who gained national attention last year for introducing Arizona’s sweeping immigration law.
