A second streetcar
has been delivered to the city of Tucson.
The brand-new 65-foot-long electric vehicle built by Clackamas, Ore.-based United Streetcar arrived on Wednesday.
The blue and white vehicle — dubbed “102” by city officials — will spend a few days in a warehouse as technicians begin reassembling it before testing it on the 3.9-mile route.
The latest addition to Sun Link’s “fleet” will allow the city to fully test the track linking the University of Arizona Medical Center campus to downtown Tucson and the west side.
The city needs at least two cars to fully test the electrical systems that power the cars, city officials have previously stated.
Sun Link is expected to be fully operational by next summer.
