The Pima County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract with New Mexico-based Ortega National Parks to operate Colossal Cave Mountain Park.
The company, doing business in Arizona as Colossal Cave LLC, will pay $20,000 in annual rent to the county.
The company also will pay an annual percentage of as much as 10 percent to the county, based on its revenue.
Ortega plans to invest $500,000 in the park to improve cave tours and add a restaurant and beer garden to the patio area.
Other improvements could include a bed and breakfast and a zipline attraction.
Colossal Cave was run by the same operator for decades. Martie and Joe Maierhauser operated the park since 1956.
