A new parking lot is scheduled to open on the East Side of Downtown Monday.
The location of the former Greyhound Bus Lines terminal, between East Broadway and East Congress Street on the east end of Downtown will provide 140 parking spaces in a lighted and fenced lot, the Tucson Department of Transportation said in a press release.
Parking will be free for patrons to use while shopping, eating or being entertained Downtown, the release said.
The lot will make up for the closure of the 80-space MacArthur parking lot on Toole Avenue, which will be closed Monday to do site preparation work for the Depot Plaza/Hope 6 project.
There will be no parking permitted in the new lot from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. to prevent overnight parking and camping.
The lot will be accessible from Broadway and Congress, the press release said.
