Two finalists have been named for the executive director's job at the Pima Association of Governments and the Regional Transportation Authority.
The post is one of the top public administration jobs in the Tucson area. The finalists are:
• Mark Gibb, executive director of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission in Fairfax, Va., and a former director of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority.
• Farhad Moghimi, assistant town manager in Sahuarita who has held leadership roles on PAG and RTA committees. He was previously public works director in Sahuarita and Marana.
The PAG Regional Council, made up of mayors and other local government leaders, may select the new executive director Aug. 2.
The new director will oversee the region's planning efforts and the $2.1 billion RTA plan. He will succeed Gary Hayes, who was director from 2004 through 2012 before resigning for health reasons.
