Despite the lack of snow, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Old Pueblo.
Neighbors across the city have taken the time and the patience to make their yards look pretty. Santa Clauses, sleds and snowmen are common figures in any scene — strewn with many lights in red, white, blue, yellow and green. Creative Tucsonans made decorating lists, some giving their yuletide images a desert twist.
In those yards, desert trees adorned with lights make do where fir trees never grew.
Residents cite many reasons for wanting to keep with the season.
For some, it's a matter of sticking to tradition. Others say it's for the kids or some good old-fashion neighborly competition.
