BIRT, Dancey Sheldon

94, of Tucson, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022.

Dan was a Navy veteran serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June

and daughter-in-law, Jennifer.

He is survived by four children, James (Teresa), Thomas, Bruce (Candace) and Barbara (David);

five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Holy Hope Cemetery, 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 for immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Arizona Parkinson's research.

Always missed…never forgotten.

81, passed away December 19, 2021 after losing her brave fight against a debilitating illness. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughters, Traci (Howard) Sachs and Corie (James) Rivinius; her stepdaughters, Katherine (Patrick) Walter and Susan Clark; her stepson, David Clark and her six grandchildren, Keenan Jones, Logan Clark, Maya Sachs, Alexis Rivinius, Allison Rivinius and Carl Bradford Walter. Elaine was born in Neptune City, NJ. She graduated from St. Dominick's High School, Long Island, NY, St. John's University, and St. John's Law School, NY. She maintained a private law practice for many years before joining the NY City Corporation Council's Office, practicing in Queens County Family Court. She finished her legal career, as a Support Magistrate in in the NY State Family Court. Elaine retired in 2004 and moved with her husband to Tucson. She became deeply involved in Arizona politics, theater and was passionately engaged with her community. She loved her family, local theater, music, especially the Tucson Symphony, and getting involved. Elaine was warm, loving, outgoing, energized and enthusiastic. She never did anything halfway. Anyone who knew her, loved her. She will be missed. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

81, of Tucson, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2022. She is survived by her two children, Ly and Robert. She will be sorely missed by Nancy Wahl's family and Carol Gatewood. We also extend our gratitude to the Villas at Green Valley and Agape Hospice. Due to increasing COVID cases, we will celebrate Barbara's life at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Tucson at a later date. Arrangements by NEPTUNE SOCIETY.

On January 2, 2022, Dale passed away peacefully from natural causes at the age of 93 in Tucson, AZ. Dale L. Hudgel was born April 20, 1928 in Tucson, AZ at the Stork's Nest birthing center to Walter Earl Hudgel and Florence Ima Thornburg. After graduating high school in Tucson, he joined the Army at 18 years old in 1946 and was honorably discharged the same year after World War II ended. He enlisted into the Air Force in 1951 as an aircraft mechanic and moved up the ranks to become a master sergeant. He married Maxine Martin in 1963 and they moved back to Tucson to raise their family.

Dale was preceded in death by both of his parents, his son Daniel Hudgel, and his wife Maxine Hudgel. Dale is survived by his son, Dale L. Hudgel II and his wife, Stephanie (Tucson, AZ); his daughter, Suzanne Worley (Tucson, AZ); his granddaughter, Jordan Hudgel (Tucson, AZ); granddaughter, Meghan Holman (Kingsport, TN); grandson, Daylon Hudgel (Johnson City, TN) and great-grandchildren, Ryker and Kayzer (Kingsport, TN).

A celebration of life service will occur at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the historic San Pedro Chapel located at 5230 East Fort Lowell Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Anyone whose lives were touched by Dale Hudgel is invited to attend and share their stories of the wonderful man he was.

Ruthann Pozez

POZEZ, Ruthann Kornbleet

passed away with her family by her side on Friday, January 14, 2022. Ruthann was born July 13, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Louis Pozez; her brothers, Seymour and Lawrence Kornbleet and her parents, Hy and Edith S. Kornbleet. Ruthann is survived by her three children, Stephen, Andrea, and Norman (Melinda) and three loving grandchildren, Alex, Sam, and Eli. In addition, Ruthann leaves behind an enormous clan of relatives, extended family, and dear friends who will miss her. Ruthann was involved throughout her lifetime in numerous activities and charitable organizations including ones that focused on mental health issues, voter's rights, and issues of the greater Jewish community. It is sufficient to say that countless organizations and individuals were touched by her unwavering generosity and acts of selfless kindness. Ruthann raised her family in Topeka, KS and moved with her husband to Tucson in 1983. Ruthann touched the lives of many people. She will be remembered as a kind, gentle, compassionate, woman who modeled integrity, generosity, and commitment. Ruthann was an unwavering rock in her family and community. To say that she will be missed is a profound understatement and through her long and remarkable life, she managed to leave this world a far better place.

An intimate family graveside service was held Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, Congregation Anshei Israel, and/or to any charitable organization of choice. Ruthann's family unfortunately will not be extending Shiva throughout the week at the family home due to Covid concerns, but encourage any and all to reach out to the family with condolences, words of kindness, or fond memories.

STORMS, Elizabeth Fogas

78, passed away on January 11, 2022, in Tucson from complications of dementia.

Liz was born on December 10, 1943, in Fords, New Jersey, to Michael and Piroska Fogas. She attended Woodbridge High School, where she graduated in 1961 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from Douglass College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1965 with a BA in Mathematics.

Liz married C. Gilbert Storms in 1968 and the two moved to Oxford, Ohio, where Gil taught in the Department of English at Miami University. Liz, who had been Assistant Registrar at Douglass College, worked as Assistant to the Registrar at Miami and then as administrator for AHI Associates, a national consulting firm in accounting education, located in Oxford.

Liz was very active in community affairs, serving as vice-president and president of the Oxford Chapter of the League of Women Voters and president of the Oxford Chamber of Commerce.

In 2003, Gil and Liz moved to Tucson, Arizona, where Liz was an avid hiker on the trails around town and volunteered at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. She also served as Treasurer on the Board of the Mesquite Ranch Homeowners Association and was a member of the Adobe Corral of the Westerners.

Liz is survived by her husband, Gilbert Storms; her son, Christopher Storms, and daughter-in-law, Jessica Storms, all residing in Tucson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tucson Botanical Gardens.

I'm very saddened to announce the passing of my wonderful mother, Rena Weiss. She made all things possible for me. I am forever grateful. My mother helped so many people without asking for anything in return. She loved nature and passed on Tu B'Shevat, the Jewish new year for trees. She loved studying many different spiritual beliefs and loved angels. She is with the angels now. Rest In Peace Mom.She is survived by me, her son, Jamie Shiller; her brother, Jeffrey Weiss and her sister, Shulamis Rabinowitz. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY.
