In memoriam: Funeral notices, November 30, 2022

Bruce Judd Cameron passed on November 17, 2022, while resting comfortably and pain free under hospice care. He is survived by his son Jim, Jim's wife Susan, their two sons, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, his sister Gail and his two nephews, Alex and Larry. Bruce was born in Lakewood, Ohio on December 1, 1937, where he and his family lived until he was five years old. His family moved to Arizona in 1942 due to Bruce's asthma. He was raised in the Tanque Verde area just outside Tucson where he attended Tanque Verde grade school and Roskruge Junior High. He attended high school at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. After graduating from high school, he spent two years at Columbia University in New York City and an additional two years at the University of Arizona in Tucson. While working for his father at Lawyers Title and Trust in Dallas, Texas, he met his first and only wife, Kay. They were married at Bruce's family home in Tanque Verde in 1958, and Bruce adopted Kay's young son, Jim. They divorced while living in Phoenix in 1965. Bruce worked for his father's business until he and a good friend started a very successful business in Phoenix called Dynacomp. Years later he sold his share of the company and opened a gun store in Phoenix. After being a longtime activist in the Libertarian Party, he ran for his party's nomination to run for Vice President of the United States in 1979. Bruce lived most of his life in Phoenix and Tucson. In 2010 he moved to a desert area in southeast Arizona known as Kansas Settlement, about 30 miles south of Willcox. He lived alone, but was always accompanied by 3-4 cats. While there, he ran a contracted postal route in the rural areas until he officially retired in 2019. He will be cremated by Avenidas Cremation and Burial. A private ceremony will be held for close friends and family.

Glenalyn Marshall Elrey was born January 23, 1931 in Helper, Utah, to Joseph Hyrum Marshall and Marie Roseberry. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles, California in 1950 and married Arthur William Elrey, Jr., on August 22, 1950 in St. George, Utah. Lyn attended dental assistant school and worked for several dentists throughout her career. Bill and Lyn started their family in 1951, and relocated to Arizona soon thereafter, where they lived the rest of their lives. Lyn kept an immaculate home, worked in dental offices, and raised four children while Bill worked to support the family. They were both known for their kindness in their Tucson community and their service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They served four missions for the church: Lagos and Aba Nigeria, Tulsa Oklahoma, and The Nauvoo Illinois Visitor Center, as well as countless hours of service in the local congregation. They loved to spend time with their children and grandchildren, who all cherish their memories and legacy. Bill passed away in 2010, and Lyn spent her final years near her daughter in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2022. We are comforted by our memories and by Lyn's faith in eternal families. She loved "I Have a Dream," a song by ABBA that got her through her challenges in Africa: "I believe in angels Something good in everything I see; I believe in angels And when I know the time is right for me I'll cross the stream- I have a dream."  We know she has finally crossed the stream to rest with her beloved Bill. Lyn is survived by her children Lyndi (Mark Drews), Sam (Elaine), Marti (Ralph Mayberry), and Matthew (Lorelyn); 30 grandchildren (Posts, Laytons, Drews, Elreys, and Mayberrys); 77 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3rd at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel (1655 Avenida del Sol) in Sierra Vista; gathering at 11am, service at 12:00 noon. Lyn will be interred December 10th in Logan, Utah, next to Bill.  Arrangements by Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

Janice "Jan" Lewis Gibson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died on November 19th, 2022, surrounded by her family. Jan was born on December 7th, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA. Her family lived in Aliquippa, PA., where she graduated from Aliquippa High in 1952. She then attended Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1955. While in school, she met the love of her life Charles "Chuck" Gibson and they were married in 1958. Jan and her family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1971. Where she worked as a nurse for 20 years at Tucson General Hospital. Jan was a very kind person, blessed with a terrific sense of humor, who loved life and her family. She also loved to travel with her adoring husband of 64 years, Chuck. She loved visiting Hawaii, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Snowmass, CO. Jan was predeceased by her much loved son Todd Dana Gibson. She is survived by her husband Dr. Charles Gibson, her son David (Mary), her daughter Elizabeth (David), and her two grandchildren Gretchen Gerovac and Jack Gibson. She is also survived by her loving brother James Lewis (Karen), and nieces and nephews. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her. We love you!

Norman Wilkes Jetta, of Oro Valley and Tucson, passed away November 22, 2022, at age 90 from extended illnesses.  Self-reliance, hard work, and a zest for learning were Norm's foundation through life.  He was a 2003 graduate of the MIS Program at the University of Arizona, after his 70th birthday. Born in Louisville, KY on September 12, 1932, he was raised there by his parents, Norman Jetta and Elfreida (Wilkes) Jetta, before graduating from duPont Manual High School.  He served in the US Army, earned a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University in 1956, and achieved registration as a professional engineer that led to a long career with General Electric. He lived and worked throughout the US in the early days of the space program, and later in consumer and industrial machinery.  A 1978 MBA degree from Drexel University helped move him into his second career of independent consulting in systems engineering and project management, before beginning his third career in IT consulting that continued into his 80's.  Outside interests that he shared with others included automobiles and racing, veterinary work, marksmanship, travel, and his Finnish heritage … not to mention an occasional trip to the pool to work on his tan and enjoy a cold drink.  Norm's fellowships included president of Theta Tau fraternity at Purdue, and memberships in the Masonic Lodge and United Church of Christ.  Those who knew him best will always remember his reasoning behind so many of his interests and pursuits: "Because it's cool."  Norm will be loved and missed by his sons Steve and Kurt Jetta, grandson Connor Jetta, and granddaughters Susie and Cami Jetta, as well as the many friends he met along the way.  

Bob passed away peacefully November 25th, 2022. He was born in Charleston, WV, but enjoyed living the past 50 years in Tucson, AZ. At 18 years old Bob joined the United States Air Force. During his time in Evreux, France as an aircraft mechanic for the air force, he met his wife of 61 years.  After his time in the Air Force Bob worked for Olivetti Underwood Corporation, owned his own business, Apache Business Systems, and was part of Tucson Business Coalition, where he made many close friends. For the last part of his career Bob served as Chief Deputy Pima County Recorder for F. Ann Rodriguez. After retiring he organized Tanque Verde Fire District. Bob is survived by his wife Soile, son Erik (Diana), grandsons, Zane (Andrea), Cade, granddaughter Ellianna, brother Ted (Dodie), nieces and nephews. Bob liked all kinds of people and visiting with them. He often made new friends and in this way was an inspiration to his son and grandsons. He will be missed. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 2:30 PM, at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, 8625 E. Tanque Verde Rd. Tucson, AZ 85749.

Born 8/6/22 in Oronogo, Missouri. Died 11/17/22 in Springerville, AZ.     An amazing man has passed away. A husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, dad was always willing to talk, visit, listen, & give advice. He was a very hard worker, raised on farms in Missouri, a marine during WWII, a miner/mechanic in Patagonia, AZ (when his son Larry was born) & Silverbell, AZ, (when daughter Debbie was born).     Cliff met his future wife Edith (White) in Patagonia, AZ. They married in Yuma in 1950, moved to California in 1954, before coming back to AZ, to spend 40+ years in Tucson, then St David with a second residence in Pinetop for several years.      Dad was a salesman for New York Life Insurance Company, Certified Life Underwriter, retiring after 40yrs in 1999.  A lifetime member of the Elks Lodge # 2532, and in the Exchange Club in Tucson for many years.      An awesome cook! Dad loved preparing colorful, tasteful dishes! delicious enjoyment for those who got to indulge! He was an artist, starting at a young age. Later he dabbled in acrylics, turning out lots of pictures. Always when doing home construction, his projects would have an artistic flair.      Dad played ball! Baseball in the fields in Missouri, softball in the Marines, playing on an undefeated team. Played on softball teams in the mining communities, usually 3rd base, and often hitting home runs.     Dad had a gorgeous head of hair, always inviting comments. He would have ladies stop him in the grocery store, asking if they could touch his hair! A great sense of humor, he enjoyed playing cards, golf, hosting parties, car traveling to see relatives, friends, and especially the grandkids!     Survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Paul Dahlquist, grandkids, Cristy (& Adam) Young, Kyle C Dahlquist. Predeceased by his wife Edith, & son Larry.        There is a lot of history in 100 years!
