GARCIA, Oscar L.

86, passed away at home on August 8, 2020. Born to his parents, Frank and Clotilde Garcia on January 12, 1934. Preceded in death by his son, Freddie; his parents and a great-granddaughter. Survived by his wife, Lupe, of 66 years; daughters, Esther, Angie, Rosita and sons, Oscar Jr. (Danette) and Steve (Christine); four grandsons, three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements by FUNERARIA AZAHARES.

William Gustus

GUSTUS, William

May 15, 1931 - August 4, 2020

William, or "Bill" as he preferred to be called, was born on May 15, 1931, the tenth of eleven children born to Floyd and Lena White Gustus in Attica, Indiana. He was the last remaining at the time of his death on August 4, 2020.

After graduating from Attica High School in 1949, Bill joined the US Air Force as one of six brothers from this second generation family of Swedish immigrants to serve in the military during World War II and the Korean Conflict. They were all very proud of their service to their country. As part of his Air Force training, Bill was sent to Pennsylvania State Teachers College to attend business classes before being shipped off to Tachikawa AFB in Japan as a Staff Sergeant procuring local supplies during the Korean War. He completed his military career at Lackland AFB where he was the base librarian in 1955. During his time in the Air Force he was awarded decorations for the Occupation of Japan, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, a Good Conduct Medal.

In 1955 Bill moved to Tucson to attend The University of Arizona. He went to work at Hughes Aircraft in 1956 where he was employed until he retired.

On December 22, 1962 he and Oletha Bostic were married in Tucson where they raised three children, William Robert Gustus (Diane), Richard Gustus, Elizabeth Marie "Lisa" Nazzaro (Thomas). He was a wonderful grandfather to four lovely granddaughters whom he adored very much - Lileanna "Anna" and Mari Nazzaro, Michaela Gustus and Taylor Lowry. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, Bill requested tributes be made to the Honor Flight of Southern Arizona in his name. Tributes can be sent by check to Tucson Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution, 8987 E. Tanque Verde Road, Tucson, Arizona 85749-9610. In accordance with Bill's wishes, there will be a private graveside service with an Air Force Honor Guard. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

Jean Hamilton

HAMILTON, Jean Turner

passed away on August 13, 2020 at Tucson Medical Center with family by her side. Born on February 4, 1944 to Ken Turner, an advertising executive, and Isobelle Turner (Nelson), a homemaker. Jean was raised in Kenilworth, Illinois, spending her summers in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Jean attended the Sears School in Kenilworth, and New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois before enrolling in Northwestern University. Finishing her studies at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois she met her husband of 55 years, Frank Hamilton.

Jean loved to travel, visiting 61 countries in her lifetime, and was a passionate patron of the arts, especially Western Art. A western art gallery was named for Jean and her husband at the Tucson Museum of Art. Jean served on several charitable boards over the years. She will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her husband, Frank Hamilton; three children, Frank Hamilton, Jr. (Megan); Andrew Hamilton; Margaret Reeves (Jonathan); her sister, Nancy Berg (Chuck); and three grandchildren, Linden Hamilton, Stewart Reeves, and Cooper Reeves.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

Vada Holsinger

HOLSINGER, Vada M.

Vada, 86, has entered into eternal peace in heaven. Born in West Texas, she grew up with four siblings, a life filled with endless laughter and hard work. After schooling she worked in sales at a newspaper, then married Richard and they moved to La Jolla, CA. Her career continued as a travel agent. Vada had many lives. As a model on the runway, as a leader being President of the La Jolla Newcomers Club, as a volunteer, as a blessed athlete she loved golf, bowling, riding bikes, skiing and hiking the Sierras. As a mother, wife and friend she was our inspiration, a caring steady hand and a guiding light. Her life, until dementia struck, was filled with all the best, except for the loss of her daughter, Karen at 12. She is survived by son, Trenton Holsinger; daughter, Tricia Larson; husband, Richard and their ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

It is with great sadness that the family of Trinidad "Trini" Valentin announce his passing on August 11, 2020. Trinidad, 83, passed away peacefully with his wife, Yolanda, by his side. He was a native Arizonan, born on December 28, 1936, and raised in Hayden, AZ. He was a 52-year resident of Sierra Vista. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and his family was the center of his life. Trinidad is survived by his wife, Yolanda (Almejo from Superior); brother, Jose; children, Raquel Valentin Wheeler, Sierra Vista, Esther Henley (Robert Henley), Casa Grande, Paul (Traycee), Sierra Vista and Olivia Silver (Aaron), Tucson and grandchildren, Alexandra Valentin, Fort Worth, TX, Joshua Henley, Casa Grande, Rebecca Wheeler, Tucson, Daniel Wheeler, Sierra Vista, Matthew Henley, Casa Grande, Adriana Valentin, Eureka, CA, Dominic Valentin, Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by parents, Jose and Teodora Valentin and sisters, Jessie Valentin and Toni Scrivner. Graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, where he met his wife, Yolanda. They were married at Saint Augustine Cathedral on September 19, 1960. Served in the Army and was stationed at WSMR, NM in the Scientist and Engineering program. Joined Electronic Proving Ground (EPG), Fort Huachuca in 1968 and worked there until his retirement in 1994. He initially worked at the Electronic Test Facility (ETF) working with test chambers and other test equipment. He then worked in Greely Hall for EPG purchasing test equipment and performing other duties in support of EPG. He was responsible for the development of the turntable used at the Arch project located on the East Range, which is visible from the Highway 90 bypass, and still in use today. He was also responsible, from concept to completion, for both the EMETF, and Bannister Hall, which serves as the headquarters for EPG. Trinidad chaired Sierra Vista Public Library (SVPL) Grand Opening Committee in 1999. This was the beginning of his "second career" serving Sierra Vista. He served as President of Friends of the SVPL and AZ Library Friends, Chairman of SVPL 10th Anniversary Celebration Committee in 2009 and Library Advisory Commission, and Area Governor for Local Toastmaster's International Chapter. He was a member of the Library Advisory Commission that was named Best Library Commission in the State of AZ by AZ Library Association. He served with the Board of the Catholic Community Services of Southeastern AZ for 12 years, 6 years he served as President of the Board. He was instrumental in the Forgach House project. Visitation on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at HATFIELD MEMORIAL CHAPEL in Sierra Vista. Saturday, August 22, 2020, Rosary at 10:15 a.m. at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Father Gregory Adolf. Interment will follow at Cochise Memory Gardens. A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus. Donations to the Friends of the Sierra Vista Public Library in honor of our Dad would be greatly appreciated. Face masks/coverings are required for church and in public in SV and social distancing should be observed.
