Susan Beebe

Susan Beebe

BEEBE, Susan Wendell

Susan W. Beebe, a long-time Tucson resident, passed away at home on July 22, 2021, after a period of declining health. She was born February 5, 1945, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of William H. and Katrina (Clarke) Beebe. She attended the Bement School in Deerfield, MA, and Hamden Hall Country Day School in New Haven. After graduating from high school, she traveled cross-country to Tucson, where she graduated from the University of Arizona in 1968 with a degree in English literature. She spent the majority of her working years in the graphic services department for Pima County, helping to create suburban street and plot plans for Tucson's rapidly growing outskirts. In 2011, she retired as the director of the department after 25 years of service.

Susan loved all that the Arizona desert and culture had to offer and enjoyed horseback riding and sitting on her back patio with a cocktail and a smoke. She was a devoted dog rescuer, fostering well over two dozen poodles and a myriad of other breeds, shapes, and sizes. An avid bird lover, she had parrots, cockatiels, and parakeets to keep her and the dogs company. Susan was quick-witted, always enjoyed a good pun, and made each of her friends and relatives feel as if they were the single most important person in her life.

Her partner, Dorothy N. Fuller, predeceased her in 2007. She is survived by two brothers, Tyler H. Beebe (Brooke) of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Willson B. Beebe (Vickie) of Midland, TX; a step-sister, Sarah B. Peck (John) of La Selva Beach, CA, and a step-brother, Dwight U. Beebe of Florence, MA; her beloved nephews, Scott H. Beebe (Carrie) of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, Andrew (Drew) N. Beebe (Amy) of South Orange, NJ, and Samuel (Sam) W. Beebe of Midland, TX; her animals Abby, Remy, Beamer, Joe, and Popeye; and many, many lifelong friends and admirers. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

A service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Susan's name to the Arizona Poodle Rescue (https://arizonapoodlerescue.org), the Humane Society of Arizona (https://www.azhumane.org), the Beebe Memorial Fund at the Bement School (https://www.bement.org/giving/funds), or an animal charity of one's choice. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

Mary Martin

Mary Martin

MARTIN, Mary Therese (Sister Therese)

It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Sister Therese Martin announces her peaceful passing on June 25, 2021, at the age of 95.

Sister Therese was born on March 12, 1926, in Owosso, Michigan to Lawrence and Agnes Martin. Therese was born with a twin sister Patricia, "Patty". When the children were just two, the family moved from Owosso to Detroit. It was here that the family thrived and the children grew. Tragedy impacted the family in 1942 when Patty died from rheumatic fever. Therese was heartbroken as she spoke fondly throughout the years of her dear sister.

Therese graduated St Benedict High School in 1944. She then attended the University of Detroit before entering the religious life. After spiritual counseling and her own journey of soul searching, she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph (SSJ) in 1945. While at SSJ, Sister Therese, met Sister Barbara Donahue, who became a lifelong friend and confidant.

While working tirelessly as a Sister of Saint Joseph, Sister Therese also earned a Bachelor's of Arts from Nazareth College and a Master of Arts from Georgetown University. The advance degrees allowed her to pursue many different opportunities. Sister Therese was a Professor of Political Science at Nazareth College from 1968-1971, a Director of Hospital Education at Borgess Hospital from 1971-1973 and from 1974-1977, she was the Principal at St Thomas School in Ann Arbor Michigan.

1977 was a year of significant change for Sister Therese, she decided to change religious orders, leaving the Sisters of St. Joseph and joining the Sisters for Christian Community. Also, during 1977, she along with her dear friend Sister Barbara, moved to Arizona.

In Arizona, Sister Therese continued her love of learning and attended the University of Arizona, earning several hours in Library Science. She also continued her love of teaching.

1978-1981 she taught at the Tohono O'odham Reservation in Topawa and Sells, Arizona. She retired from teaching in 1991 after teaching for a decade at the Sunnyside School District.

In retirement, Sister Therese loved to travel, tell a good story, and discuss just about any topic. She continued her religious calling at St Pius X in Tucson, AZ.

Sister Therese is predeceased by her mother and father and dear sister Patty, also her dear friend, Sister Barbara Donahue.

Funeral service will be in Tucson, AZ, Thursday, August 19, 2021 at St Pius X Church.

Sister Therese will be buried in Owosso, Michigan in October 2021. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

OUR DEAREST BONNIE

These past twenty-five years without you in our lives has left a giant hole in our broken hearts. Your life was our blessing, and the memories we have are our treasure.

You will always be loved beyond words, and we miss you beyond measure. Your children and grandchildren continue to thrive and succeed, and how tragic that you were denied the opportunity to share in their lives.

You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts. We will always cherish our short time together, and our loving memories will endure forever.

Your loving family, Jerry, Lindsay, and Kevin
