Marc Luety

Marc Luety

LUETY, Marc Edward

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. He passed unexpectedly of a heart attack at the young age of 63. Marc had many loves in life; speed boats, cars, dove hunting, and watching old westerns and the Andy Giffith show, but nothing came close to the love he had for his wife and family. He was always there for those in need - day or night. He was happiest when spending time with his kids and being "POPS" to his grandchildren. Marc never knew a stranger. He made everyone feel welcomed with his sweet smile, his huge generous heart, and his laugh would draw you in every time. He was a big teddy-bear underneath his tough exterior. And wasn't shy about crying at the drop of a pin. Marc will be dearly missed and was a true blessing to all of us who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Lisa Luety Phenicie and Raymond S. Luety Sr.; his youngest brother, Raymond Luety Jr.; his grandparents, Hannah Louise Kegel "Gammy" and Hugo Liedke "Pa-pa" and William and Aletta Luety.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him very much, Vanessa, Kimberly, Greg, Tierra, Christopher, Zach and Matthew and great-nieces and nephew, Ava, Austin, Olivia, Adelyn, Raemi, Arianna.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Reach Radio Tucson.A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Chapel, Tucson, 8711 E. Speedway Blvd. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.

Joyce Martin

Joyce Martin

MARTIN, Joyce Peter "Pete"

who was born in Tucson, Arizona at the Stork's Nest on October 18, 1926, died on May 5, 2020 in Escondido, California of natural causes. She was married to Tom Martin for 47 years until Tom's death and is survived by her children, Chuck Martin (Kris) living in Tucson and Merri Furler (Juan) living in Escondido, and her four grandchildren, Michael and Annie in Tucson and Chase and Emily in California. Annie King (James) are the parents of her one great-grandson, Avery. She is also survived by her older sisters, Carol Hauff and Lois Burke, and numerous nieces and a nephew.

She had a full life. She owned and rode horses and was Tucson Rodeo royalty when she was young. She liked to garden and go camping and fishing while raising her family. She decided to go back to the University of Arizona to become a nurse when her children were teenagers. Pete worked as a Psychiatric nurse at various facilities in Tucson, including the UofA. Most of her nursing career was working with juveniles, which she truly enjoyed. After retiring from nursing, she volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. She traveled to various areas of the eastern U.S. and Caribbean soon after a disaster happened, and her camping skills certainly came in handy. She was at the New York Port Authority after the 9/11 incident, the Oklahoma City bombing, Hurricane Katrina, and numerous other disasters, including the devastating fire on Mt. Lemmon.

Until her late 80's, Pete lived in a home that she and Tom built on a large lot along the Tanque Verde Wash. She moved to Merri's home in California last August after living at Atria Bell Court Gardens for several years. She made many friends during her life, including Silas Hurts, a life-long family friend. We all will miss Pete. Thank you to Silvarado Hospice, San Diego, for your kind and compassionate care. A memorial service is planned for sometime in the future. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Red Cross.

Lynette Matteson

Lynette Matteson

MATTESON, Lynette Peebles

Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lynette, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2020 at Maple Springs Memory Care in North Logan, Utah with her children at her side. Lynette was born on October 1, 1931, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to Sidney and Nina Kitchens Peebles. She graduated from Sycamore High School in 1948 at age 16 and left the farm for Martha Berry College near Rome, GA. Lynette was ahead of her time, walking an extra four miles a day to take business classes on the "boy's campus." She paid for her education completely by working at Berry and in 1952 earned her bachelor's degree in Business Education. She cherished her years at Berry. After three years working in Atlanta for Rich's Department Store, Lynette joined the American Red Cross and was assigned to Wurtzberg, Germany as a secretary to the commanding officer. Soon after her arrival, Lynette took driving lessons while waiting for the delivery of her new VW Bug.

While in Germany, Lynette met and married Richard B. Matteson, a Captain in the Army, who was serving as a dentist. In 1958, they made their way back to Dick's hometown, Tucson, AZ. Lynette worked at Valley National Bank as a secretary until the birth of their first child, Sydney Michele. Three and a half years later they added a son, Richard Buzan Jr., to their family. Mom always said that what she loved most in her life was raising her kids. She was also very involved in the Tucson Dental Auxiliary and the Junior League.

In the early 1970's, as a new divorcee, Lynette enrolled in graduate school at the University of Arizona, earning a Masters in Business Administration. On her graduation day, she was already busy in Real Estate school, learning a new profession which would become a very successful career for more than 25 years. In between selling houses, Lynette always found time to keep her children involved in meaningful activities, host gatherings for them and their friends, take them camping all over the southwest, and travel to Georgia to visit family one or two times a year.

In her later years, Lynette was active at Catalina Foothills Church and cherished the friends she made there and her weekly Bible Study. Lynette loved reading a good historical fiction or murder mystery, staying current on local and world events, cooking, eating, and sharing delicious food, watching college basketball, traveling the world, and especially spending time with her kids and grandkids. She visited more than 40 countries, traveled to see Rich and Sydney and their families often, and also took all of her grandchildren on a "senior trip" when they graduated from High School.

In April 2013, after a wonderful 55 years in Tucson, Lynette moved to North Logan, UT to be closer to Sydney and her family. Rich and his family visited often and even though she started suffering more from the effects of dementia, mom truly enjoyed all of the extra family time. Lynette is survived by daughter, Sydney (Sid) Larsen of Smithfield, UT; son, Rich (Kimberly) of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and his wife, George and Mary Peebles and her sister, Margaret Ann Peebles.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Swainsboro, GA.
