DUPERRET, Ruth Marie

DUPERRET, Ruth Marie

DUPERRET, Ruth Marie

86, died peacefully at home with family at her side on August 6, 2018. Ruth grew up in a Navy family and moved often in her early years. Her favorite memories were of Hawaii, where she obtained her RN degree in 1954. In 1956 she married Edward Duperret and subsequently had four children in five years (an act of extreme bravery). The young family settled in northern California before entering the Peace Corps in 1968, serving in the Truk Islands under very primitive conditions. In 1970 they moved to Tucson, where she earned an additional degree in Early Childhood Development. Thereafter she worked as an RN for 25 years, focusing on pediatrics and early computerization of hospital systems. She traveled to China, Egypt, and Russia in nursing exchange programs. Always a champion for underprivileged women, Ruth worked hard to give single mothers a fighting chance at a college degree. Her latter years were spent between Tucson and Greer; she loved summers in Greer and requested that her ashes be scattered in the beautiful meadows of her summer home. Ruth is survived by her brother, Thomas (Kathleen); four children, Robert, Michael (Ellen), Susann, and Steve; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Elizabeth), Kevin, Bishop and Logen; one great-grandchild, Seraphina. A Mass will be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church chapel on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements by OASIS CREMATION.

KOLLAR, Peter R.

KOLLAR, Peter R.

KOLLAR, Peter R.

With sadness we announce the death of Peter Randall Kollar on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the age of 72. He was born on January 29, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Fredda F. and Dr. Edward J. Kollar who preceded him in death, as well as his two sisters, Dr. Judith (Jacques) Huart of Paris, France and Alexandra Kollar of Tucson, AZ. Pete is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia A. Kollar; daughters, Amy (Mark) Anderson of Dayton, OH, Candice (David) Ensslin of Fox River Grove, IL; stepdaughter, Rosanne Wells of Bloomington, IL and brother, Jeffrey (Judith) Kollar of Brookfield, IL. Additionally, Pete will be missed by Owen, Aiden, and Ellie Ensslin, his three grandchildren and nephews, Eric (Clarisse) Huart of Montreal, Canada, Daniel (Xia Bin) Kollar of Shanghai, China and niece, Elizabeth (Brennan) Koziarz of Chicago, IL, all of whom he adored. Pete graduated from Deerfield, IL High School in 1964 and received an Associate's Degree from DeVry University prior to serving his country by joining the U.S. Air Force in 1967 until 1971 and serving in Viet Nam during that time. Pete was a network engineer since IT inception at Varian Data Machines and Honeywell, then in Chicago at First National Bank and CNA Insurance, and finally at Computer Sciences Corp at General Dynamics in Scottsdale. During his employment at CNA, Pete met Pat, a co-worker. He loved to tell anyone who would listen how Pat called him and asked for a date. He said he knew on the first date that he and Pat would be together forever, so he proposed in three weeks and they married nine weeks later. Although surprised by a diagnosis of mesothelioma (cancer from asbestos) in 2005, Pete told everyone he would not accept the prognosis of 18-24 months, knowing that a positive attitude might not give him more time, but he would enjoy what time there was left. Our family is so thankful that Pete had 13 more years; thankful for medical marijuana, for it improved his daily existence and possibly prolonged his life; thankful for hummingbirds Pete loved to watch when he helped clean 42 feeders at WOW Arizona nature preserve in Catalina every other Sunday; thankful for Pete's constant encouragement and all the techy-nerd explanations that made no sense to most of us, but we loved to hear his beautiful deep voice, especially when he frequently laughed. Pete was always especially concerned about homeless students who are unable to graduate from high school and made Youth On Their Own (YOTO) his priority philanthropy. Pete will be greatly missed and remembered by his loving family and many friends. A Celebration of Pete's Life will be held in Chicago in September. Gifts of remembrance may be made to www.yoto.org or to www.wowaz.org. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

STUCKY, Patricia Jean (Pat)

STUCKY, Patricia Jean (Pat)

STUCKY, Patricia Jean (Pat)

of Tucson, AZ died July 13, 2018 at the age of 85 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on April 10, 1933 to Claude and Margaret Cornwell on their farm in Mantorville, MN and was the second youngest of six children. The family later moved to the small town of Pine Island, Minnesota. Upon graduation from high school, Pat worked as a dental hygienist. In 1950, she married Conrad "Con" Stucky. They moved to Iowa City, Iowa so Con could attend the University of Iowa. After completing his studies, they moved overseas with their four young children. A six-month assignment with the Ford Foundation turned into an incredible twenty-year adventure in the Middle East, primarily in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Pat adapted quickly to her new, unexplored world and embraced the many challenges with her trademark cheerfulness. In 1980, Pat and Con returned to the U.S. and settled in Tucson where Con established a branch office for the Kansas based Planning Development Services (PDS). Pat worked as a secretary for PDS and later worked for Senior Services at Northwest Hospital until her retirement in 2001. Pat loved life and lived it to the fullest. She could often be found humming and dancing to her favorite tunes. She had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and was part of many singing groups that provided local entertainment. Pat also loved to travel and regularly returned to Minnesota to visit family. She enjoyed the sunsets and the moon rising over the Catalina Mountains. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Arizona Wildcats and rarely missed a basketball game. Her spirited personality, fun loving demeanor and infectious laughter touched the lives of many. Her family was the most important thing to her. Pat is survived by her children, Mark (Gail), Barb (Colman), Bonny (John) and Joe (Kari); 11 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Her ashes were scattered with her husband's who preceded her in death by 16 years. While she will be greatly missed, we are comforted that she has finally been reunited with Con.
