BAGNALL, Bernadine Lillian

(nee Powers)

Passed away on September 27, 2021 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born February 7, 1931 in Chicago, IL. Al and Bernie were married in Chicago in 1954 and moved to Tucson in 1959 where they raised their six children.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Carl) Wolfston, Susan (late Rod) Jackson, Jeanne (Jim) Leon, Jim (Andrea) Bagnall, Colleen (Jon) Perra and Eileen Bagnall; along with her grandchildren, Kayla, Morgan, Alexander, Lindsey, Samuel, Claire and Kelly and her beloved sister, Kay (late Weston) Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Nellie Powers; her husband, Al; her brothers, Thomas, Edward, Dennis and Richard; sisters, Lorie, Anne and Eileen and her best friend, Marie McLaughlin.

Visitation is Friday, October 8, 2021, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway and will be livestreamed. DENMAN, Carl Jr.,

99, of Tucson, AZ, passed away June 7, 2020. He was born to Carl A. and Oleiva S. Denman, June 12, 1920 in Springfield, Ill. He grew up in rural Illinois farming with horses. He enlisted into the Army Air Corps November 3, 1942 He was discharged in 1946 from Fort Lewis, Washington at the end of WWII with bus ticket money to Illinois but the family had moved to Washington following jobs in ship building for WWII. He stayed in the reserves there. He married Helen Kathleen Gemberling, March 5, 1949 and then was recalled in 1949 into the newly formed Air Force for the Korean War. They had three children, Diane (David) Balanoff (AZ), Carl R. (Shanna) (IN) and Caroline (Brad) Cowan (AZ). His last assignment was DMAFB, where he retired with 25 years of service. After the Air Force he drove semis for a few companies, opened a Transmission repair shop and then bought a semi-truck and trailer. He and Helen continued to see the USA as team drivers hauling freight coast to coast. Following retirement, they traveled extensively all over the world to bring the total countries visited to 35. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his three children, two grandsons, David Denman (IN) and Noah Denman (MN), and his sister, Lucille Peterson (WA). Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Holy Way Presbyterian Church, 4040 S Bilbray, Tucson, AZ. GUZMAN, Amelia J.

82, of Tucson, AZ, born January 30,1939, died on September 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Gabriel Guzman; parents, Lola and Arnold Higuera; sister, Norma Laguna and brother, Anthony Higuera and survived by her siblings, Arnold Higuera, Ronald Higuera and Margaret Gallegos and many nieces and nephews. Services: Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone, Tucson, AZ; interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. LEVY, Helen Mary

of Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born in Granite City, Illinois and in 1966 married the love of her life, Seymour Levy, a WWII Marine fighting for the U.S. in the South Pacific. He died in 2013. Helen was proud of her lifelong career, especially as a project secretary at the University of Arizona from 1986 until her retirement. She is survived by her niece, Barbara Shoemaker of O'Neill, Nebraska and her nephew, John Jenkins of Tampa, Florida, plus many friends who will miss her sparkling spirit, especially her fellow Red Hat Ladies.

A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Rd., in Oro Valley. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.

LEWIS, Linda Rae

Loving wife to Jeff, and mother of Paul and Grant departed September 18, 2021. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, Linda was a graduate of the University of Florida and St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio, TX. Linda taught English in Richmond, VA, while her husband, Jeff, was in dental school at the Medical College of Virginia. She then followed her husband during his long military career and lived in both Asia and Europe, before retiring in Tucson. Linda went on to become an active Master Gardener, and later was involved with the Friends of Aphasia nonprofit organization. Linda was also on the board of the Tucson Botanical Gardens.

LYONS, Robert J.

84, beloved husband of Joyce B. Lyons, passed away on August 15, 2021 surrounded by his family. Bob, as he was known to everyone suffered for many years with COPD complicated by asbestos. Born in Lawrence, MA he was the son of the late John and Palma (DeFusco) Lyons.

He graduated from Lawrence High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1957-1961. Bob and Joyce were married in 1958 and had just celebrated 63 years of marriage in June of this year. With the support of his wife he studied at night for nine years and graduated from Merrimack College in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was the Business Manager of the Sandwich Public Schools in Sandwich, MA. and a member of the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials. He retired in 1999. After retiring Bob and Joyce chose to move to Tucson to be near their daughter.

Bob was an avid golfer, poker player and model plane builder. He loved cars especially his Mustangs. Bob and Joyce enjoyed traveling and cruising to different countries. For many years he was a volunteer at Interfaith Community Services where he worked at the front desk answering the phone and greeting clients. While there he would entertain the staff with his whistling. He also volunteered for three years with the United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. In 2014 Bob and Joyce were given the Interfaith Community Director's Award for outstanding service.

He was a Deacon at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and also volunteered in the church business office. Bob attended the Thursday morning Men's Bible Study and really enjoyed going out for breakfast with the boys after the study.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jennifer Chenault (Mark); son, Christopher Lyons; grandchildren, Nicholas and Sophie Chenault.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Traditions Hospice for their care.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the chapel at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. We are asking those unvaccinated to please wear a mask. MOORE, Billie Jo (Rollins)

July 11, 1929 - September 18, 2021

Born in her home in Higden, Arkansas.

Billie Jo has been preceded by her parents, Joe and Jewel Rollins; four siblings and husband, Don H. Moore, of 61 years. Billie Jo is survived by her three children, Donna Jo Londot, Michael Moore and Lorraine Avenetti; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Billie Jo had a love for teaching. Starting her career in Higden, AR, Billie Jo inspired the minds of young learners for 42 years until she retired in 1989 in Tucson, Arizona. Billie Jo was truly the hands and feet of Jesus, and she will be forever missed.

Service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Marana, AZ, at 9:00 a.m. The reception will follow at The River at Flowing Wells at 11:00 a.m.

SALGADO, Bernard "Bernie" N.

was called Home by our Lord on September 24, 2021 at 101 years young. He is now sharing Eternal Glory with his beloved wife of 62 ½ years, Irene, who passed away May 6, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ron (July 17, 2016); mother, father, four sisters and one brother.

Bernard is survived by daughter, Beverly; daughter-in-law, Karen and granddaughter, Carol all of Tucson; grandson, Michael (Teri), great-grandson, Caleb and great-granddaughter, Cate all of Sparks, NV.

Bernie was born in Tucson on November 17, 1919. He was a graduate of Tucson High School. Bernie met Irene while working at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA. They married on December 25, 1942. They moved back to Tucson in 1950 and had two children, Ronald (1945) and Beverly (1947). Bernard proudly served his country in the Army as a machinist from 1944 - 1946 during WWII. He was stationed in Ft. Knox, KY. Bernard was employed as manager of several different Bayless and Consumer Markets in Tucson for 26 years. He retired at age 57. Bernie was a man of highest integrity, hard work, strong ethics and moral values. He was extremely proud of his Spanish Heritage. He loved jokes and was a true jokester. He was a devout Christian and happily gave his time and service, along with his wife, to the Lord, as a member and elder at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church until he became disabled at the age of 92 and moved into assisted living. Bernie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!

TRUJILLO, Susan Anne "Susie" (Kinerk)

passed away peacefully at home in Tucson on September 24, 2021, having just celebrated her 77th trip around the sun. A native Tucsonan born on September 23, 1944, Susie was truly a force of nature as a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, entrepreneur, teacher, and friend. She graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1962 and earned her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Arizona in 1968.Aside from two years in Tacoma, WA with Al stationed by the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, and a year studying abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico during college, Susie lived her entire life in Tucson, where she was married for 53 years, raised a family, and enjoyed several careers. Among those included teaching Spanish at St. Cyril's, impacting a generation of students' lives and linguistic abilities, owning a Diet Center franchise, and working as a legal assistant for two plaintiffs law firms.An avid reader and ardent lifelong fan of Arizona Wildcats, Susie loved keeping up with current events and tracking the exploits of her extended circle. She was especially active reuniting with classmates from Saints Peter & Paul, Salpointe and the University of Arizona. Her family takes solace that her last full day was spent celebrating her birthday with family, filled with peace and joy as she heard from friends and family across her world. A sweet, kind and generous soul, her light shines on through her loved ones.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Ann, brother, Daniel Martin; nephew Daniel L. II and daughter, Ann Marie, and is survived by her husband Alfonso; son, Bob; daughter, Erin; brother, Burt Kinerk (Nancy); nieces, nephews and their children. An in-person Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. at Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2545 N. Tucson Boulevard. An in-person celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E Lee Street, with interment at Holy Hope Cemetery to follow. WARBURTON, Marilyn Frances Zaepfel

Passed away on September 26, 2021 in Tucson, AZ. Marilyn was born in Newark, NJ to Helene Marie DuMont Zaepfel and Charles George Zaepfel on June 28, 1942. She was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Charles William Zaepfel. She is survived by her husband, Thomas McMullen Warburton; her younger sister, Helene Zaepfel Stalker; her children, Theresa Jeanne Warburton, Elizabeth Marie Smith, Marilyn Louise Warburton, Thomas Arthur Warburton and Paul Leonard Warburton; seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn earned her LPN nursing degree in 1961 from the S. H. Kress School of Practical Nursing; and a BS and MSW degree, in 1991, from the University of Arizona College of Education. She worked over the years as a nurse and a mental health counselor. She will be missed by family, friends, and people who were helped by her professional and personal outreach. WILBEE, Robert "Bob"

Dr. Robert H. Wilbee passed away on September 3, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born September 14, 1929, in Edmonton, Alberta to Thomas and Edith Wilbee. Bob was brought up in Buffalo, NY and, after attending Kenmore HS, he went on to graduate from Dartmouth College in 1951. After serving in the US Army in Panama, he returned to enter medical school in Buffalo, graduating in 1958. He did his internship at UC San Francisco and surgical residency at the Buffalo General Hospital. He practiced with the Bethlehem Steel Trauma team and became an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Buffalo where he was instrumental in the planning and construction of the Erie County Medical Center.Tired of shoveling snow and seeking warmer climes, the family relocated to Las Cruces, NM, where Bob began a private surgical practice. During this time he was elected President of the American Medical Society of New Mexico and President of the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners. Slowing down his medical practice, he became Occupational Medical Director for White Sands Missile Range, and finally retired in 1991. He and Shirley made a final move to Tucson in 2000 and did extensive traveling around the world.

Bob was a polymath and lifelong learner, interested and knowledgeable in many areas: linguistics, history, and music among them. He became a private pilot, owning a series of 13 airplanes over the years. He continued to participate in classes at SAGE and OLLI through the UofA which was such a big part of his life after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Rees) Wilbee of 61 years. He is also survived by son, Richard (Dena) and granddaughter, Riley of Las Cruces, NM; granddaughter, Ashley (Blake) Busby and her son, Teegan of Hereford, TX; grandson, Tom Peterson (Sarah Garcia) and their children, Chase, Zoey and Amelia of Phoenix; daughter-in-law, Ann Wilbee and grandson, Ryan of Geneva, IL; nephews, James (Jeff Hoey) Wilbee and Robert (Diane) Wilbee and their son, RJ of San Rafael, CA and sister-in-law, Linda Williams of St. Helena, CA and her children, Morgan (Nate) and Graham.
