Send Slience Packing is designed to raise awareness about the impact of suicide, connect people to mental health resources and inspire action for suicide prevention. For more than a decade, the Send Silence Packing exhibit has traveled to dozens of campuses across the country to end the silence that surrounds mental illness and suicide. This exhibit is presented by Active Minds, a leading nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for students

University of Arizona student Lucas Boje spent a long time on the mall reading the stories of youth suicides at the Send Silence Packing exhibition on the UA mall on April 29, 2019 in Tucson, AZ. Because each of the more than 1000 backpacks represents a person Boje said. "It feels important to hear them out."

Three of the bags on display at the Send Silence Packing exhibition on the UA Mall on April 29, 2019 in Tucson, AZ. are the actual packs owned by students who died by suicide. This art is a piece done by the mother of student Katrina "Kara" Taggett. Following her daughter's death, she made this piece in an art therapy class. This exhibit is presented by Active Minds, a leading nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for students.
