About 50 Sonoyta pupfish were released into an artificial stream inside the University of Arizona's Biosphere 2 on Friday in hopes of establishing a new reserve population of the endangered fish.
The endangered Sonoyta pupfish has apparently disappeared from its native range in Mexico, leaving just one remaining wild population at Quitobaquito Springs in southwestern Pima County.
