The spring equinox does NOT start 12+ hours of daylight, that was last week | Joe Martucci explains why
Contrary to popular belief, the equinox doesn’t usher in 12-plus hours of daylight. That happened last week. That’s because of the way we define sunrise and sunset. A sunrise is defined as the exact moment the upper arc of the sun touches the eastern horizon. A sunset is the exact moment the upper arc touches the western horizon. So we’ll have around 12 hours and 5 minutes of daylight Tuesday.
