A New Year's tradition in some of the country's chillier cities and towns is the Polar Bear Plunge, in which normally sane people don their swimsuits and take a quick jump in a lake or some other body of water despite extremely cold outdoor temperatures. In some cases, the swimmers have to break a hole in the ice first. Brr! However, taking the plunge in Tucson is a piece of cake.
