Political icon and 1996 Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole says he has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The 97-year-old former U.S. Senate majority leader said Thursday in a short statement that he would begin treatment for the disease Monday.
Bob Dole, a Republican Party stalwart and presidential hopeful who was one of Washington's most recognizable political figures throughout the latter half of the 20th century, died Sunday.
