The Tucson Citizen documented some of Tucson's newest, spiffiest gas stations in 1968, as well as the oldest from the Model A era.

Gas and groceries stop at Alvernon and Ft. Lowell in 1968. A true relic, featuring Dixie gas and cold bottles of Bubble Up inside. The owner likely lived on site at some point during the station's life.

This Enco gas station on the northwest corner of Ina Road and the Florence Highway (now known as Oracle Road) featured some shrubs and a picnic table, which apparently were the latest thing in 1968. Note the old service station across the street at Casas Adobes Plaza. Most recently that building was the Einstein's Bagels and Starbuck's Coffee. It was torn down in 2013 for the parking lot expansion for the new Whole Foods. Also note the empty lot on the southeast corner. That is now the Safeway plaza.
