A helicopter pilot who broke into a vacation cabin east of Wikieup after he made an emergency landing will not face criminal charges.
The cabin's owner pressed Mohave County officials to file charges against pilot Aaron Temple of Las Vegas after the April 5 incident, but the county attorney has now declined to file charges.
According to Mohave County sheriff's deputies, Temple took off from Boulder City, Nev., for a flight to Scottsdale and made an emergency landing in a rugged area.
Temple hiked to a nearby cabin and broke in to escape the cold and windy night. Early the next morning, he drove the cabin owner's all-terrain vehicle 14 miles to Arizona 93 seeking help.
Cabin owner Jay Torok of Scottsdale was furious. "It was sheer arrogance what he did," said Torok, who says the pilot ate his food and trashed his new home. Temple offered restitution, but Torok still filed a complaint.
