Authorities say a Scottsdale man is hospitalized after falling over a balcony following a verbal confrontation with his doctor.
Scottsdale police were called to the doctor's office about 4 p.m. Thursday.
The Arizona Republic reports the man arrived 15 minutes late for a 2 p.m. appointment and grew impatient when the doctor still couldn't see him by 3:45 p.m.
Witnesses say the man barged into the doctor's office. Police say the doctor pulled out a handgun for his protection, but the weapon wasn't used.
The unidentified man eventually left the office. He turned back — possibly to confront the doctor again — and fell over the second-floor railing, landing on the interior floor below.
The man was transported to a Scottsdale Healthcare hospital with a serious head injury.
