PHOENIX— Authorities say an inmate at a state prison in Goodyear is dead.
Arizona Department of Corrections officials say 25-year-old Cynthia Apkaw died Wednesday at the Abrazo West Campus from an apparent suicide.
Details weren't immediately released.
They say Apkaw was sentenced to 11 ½ years in prison out of Maricopa County for multiple aggravated assault convictions.
She was most recently housed at the state prison complex-Perryville.
DOC officials say all inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner's office.
