An injured puppy abandoned in a Dumpster at a Sierra Vista apartment complex has prompted an investigation.
The 4-month-old Maltese named Lilly was left inside a plastic bag for soil. It was dirty, wet and suffering from hypothermia when it was pulled from the Dumpster Sunday at Oasis Apartments, 4250 E Busby Dr., the Sierra Vista Police Department said in a news release.
The puppy had no tags, but was wearing a red collar with rhinestones.
She was taken to a local veterinarian and remains in semi-critical condition due to a possible head trauma, the release said.
The puppy is recovering and learning to walk, eat and drink again.
