Arizona, the nation pays tribute and offers prayers to Sen. John McCain

  • Aug 24, 2018
  • Aug 24, 2018 Updated Oct 1, 2018

On Friday morning, Sen. John McCain's office announced that he will discontinue medical treatment for his brain cancer.

A statement, put out by his family, said "The progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict. With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment."

Here's how family and politicians in Arizona and the U.S. reacted:

My family is deeply appreciative of all the love and generosity you have shown us during this past year. Thank you for all your continued support and prayers. We could not have made it this far without you - you've given us strength to carry on. pic.twitter.com/KuAQSASoa7
