From the west to the east, Montanans were given a front row seat to the Aurora Borealis, also known as Northern Lights Friday night.
The geomagnetic storm that crashed into earth was "an unusual and potentially historic event," according to Clinton Wallace, director of NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center.
The aurora should still be visible Saturday and Sunday night.

The most significant geomagnetic storm since at least 2003 brought the Northern Lights to places that have rarely seen them before. Parts of America will have another chance Saturday night if you missed it.
