Pelé resting in Brazilian city he made famous
Pelé's coffin arrived at his final resting place Tuesday, as millions of fans in Brazil and around the world mourned. Pelé was being buried in the city where he grew up, became famous, and helped make into a global capital of his sport. A Mass, which was attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was held at the Vila Belmiro stadium before the casket was driven through the streets of Santos, and later arrived at the cemetery. In the streets, scores of fans gathered to bid Pelé farewell. "It's very emotional. You can't help but shed a tear because it is an indescribable feeling," said Elaine Oliveira, tourist guide and Santos supporter. "It's like (he was) a family member, that's part of our lives and history."
