Air Marshal hiring drive amid retirement wave
On Monday, the Transportation Security Administration held a recruitment event at Newark Liberty International Airport as part of an effort to hire more than 400 new Air Marshals. After the 9/11 terror attacks, the federal government hired thousands of Air Marshals to patrol the sky and many are now eligible for retirement. Candidates must have excellent eyesight and handgun sharpshooting skills to respond effectively to threats in the confined space of an airplane full of people 30,000 feet in the sky. Air Marshals must be adept at blending in. Several hundred people applied for the positions on Monday. The TSA has several more recruitment events scheduled in different cities through the end of the year.
