People flee fighting as Sudan faces supply shortages
People have been flocking to the Egypt-Sudan border to escape the violence from two Sudanese rival forces despite a truce. At the desert Arqin border crossing, buses carrying Sudanese families have been lining up, waiting to enter neighboring Egypt. Meanwhile, those who stay behind face shortages due to basic supplies running out. In Omdurman, throngs of people queue for fuel at gas stations, which opened sporadically. A resident said they had to wait for three days and there was still no fuel available. In another part of the city, shelves at a supermarket were becoming bare as people used the lull in the fighting to resupply. But supermarkets themselves can't resupply. Aid agencies have raised increasing alarm over the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
