Biden, first lady host White House Easter Egg roll
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcomed some 30-thousand people to the White House Monday for the annual Easter Egg Roll, an annual tradition dating back to 1878. Children and their parents join the first family and many others from the White House staff to celebrate Easter and one of the oldest traditions at the White House The first lady's theme this year is “EGGucation.” Jill Biden is a teacher and she has incorporated numerous learning opportunities into the event. “Learning doesn't only happen in a classroom, there are so many fun opportunities to learn around us every day,” Biden said in remarks kicking off the event, explaining that's why they turned the South Lawn into a “school community.” President Joe Biden followed saying, "anything’s possible in America if we remember who we are and we do it together.” President Rutherford B. Hayes started the White House Easter Egg Roll tradition when he opened the White House lawn to children in 1878 after Congress voted to restrict the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.
