I was a Republican once. It used to be the party of free trade, of balanced budgets, of states rights. The party of family values, pro American law enforcement agencies and anti-Russia. The party of free speech and freedom of the press, the party of transparency in government. They have happily abandoned every last one of those core values in favor of kissing the ring of the truth-challenged, petty, needy, vindictive child who temporarily inhabits the oval office.
I can't imagine how they intend to regain any semblance of moral ascendancy and integrity or to recapture the ethical high ground they've always claimed to own when the Trump circus leaves town, but it should be interesting to watch while we're cleaning up after the elephant parade.
