Whose dream is this?
Representative Juan Ciscomani’s campaign ads keep talking about “the American dream.” Problem is, exactly what is he dreaming about?
Is he dreaming about how he and the Republicans had the opportunity to pass a bipartisan immigration reform program, and failed to do so after they were intimidated by Trump? Is he dreaming about women’s lack of medically sound health care? Is he dreaming about enabling a felon to seek the White House?

These all seem a bit nightmarish to me. But maybe on November 6 he will wake up from his dream and discover what I am dreaming about — Representative Ciscomani looking for another job.

Republicans for Harris
More and more high-profile Republicans are publicly endorsing Kamala Harris for President.
Retired Federal Judge and legal scholar J. Michael Luttig stated, “there is only one party and one candidate that is a defender and protector of America’s democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law. I will unhesitatingly vote for Vice President Harris.”
Others include former Congressmen Walsh, Comstock and Kinzinger, former National Security adviser Troye, and former Lt. Governor Duncan who stated “this election is a matter of knowing right from wrong. It’s really that simple.”
Mesa Mayor Giles summed it up best when he declared, “I do not recognize my party that has been taken over by extremists. In the spirit of John McCain, I ask you Republicans to put country over party. Elect this ticket; they are the adults in the room, and they will solve our problems.”
I admire these courageous, principled Republicans for their dedication to our country and their willingness to lead the way for others to follow.

How about some real investigations?
The Republican-run US House of Representatives finally released a report on Joe Biden that must have cost millions of wasted tax dollars and found no criminal activities that are impeachable by Joe Biden and only re-emphasized allegations of a “Biden crime family.” And now they are going after Democratic US Vice President and Democratic Party presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate Democratic Minnesota governor Tim Walz.
Why don’t the Republicans investigate Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner and his $2 billion from the Saudi Royal family? Or investigate Trump’s former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and the $1 billion he received? Or the Trump crime family and Donald Trump, who is a convicted felon (it was unanimous, not even a split decision)? Or maybe look into the opinions of Trump-appointed US District Judge Aileen Cannon and how she is protecting the obviously guilty Trump at the expense of justice?
Haven’t the Republicans claimed the Biden administration is “weaponizing” the Justice Department? Aren’t they themselves subverting justice?

Vote for ‘the choice’ of presidents
Three of the living U.S. presidents, all Democrats, attended and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in support of the Democratic nominee. While there are two surviving Republican past U.S. presidents, only one spoke at the Republican National Convention. The other, George Bush, did not attend, and has publicly stated that he will not vote for this year’s Republican nominee. The nominee this year cannot even get his Vice President to vote for him. Seems like a good reason to vote for the choice of presidents.

Our future president
If you did not see Kamala Harris’ speech on Thursday, Aug. 22, you have missed out on the best, honest and true speech ever. Kamala makes sense. She is so smart and so experienced and empathetic to the needs of the American people. If Kamala does not win the presidency, we should all pack up and move out of the United States. Trust me — you will be very sorry if Donald Trump wins. Do your homework and do not believe the distorted ads on TV making Kamala the enemy. She is not the enemy. Kamala cares about the American people. Vote with your heart and please make the right choice for our Country and for our children and grandchildren. Thank you.

Appreciation for Fischer
Re: the Aug. 23 article “US Supreme Court limits voter registrations in AZ.”
How fortunate we are to have Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services reporting on legislative and other activities in the Arizona Legislature on behalf of the Arizona Daily Star. As just one example, I had read an online USA Today article of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the AZ voter registration limits that was disjointed and extremely confusing. Howard Fischer cleared things up for me by reporting on what the ruling did, and importantly, didn’t do in his story on Aug. 23. His reporting is always in-depth, clear and understandable, even though the subjects he covers are often times not. He is a professional journalist who clearly understands the subjects he reports on.

Disrespect
While listening to commentators and reading the news during this campaign it strikes me that Biden, Obama, Trump, Bush, Walz, Vance and other men are referred to by their surnames. Women are referred to by Kamala, Hillary, Jill, Gwen, Shirley and Nancy, and of course, Second Gentleman is NOT referred to as Doug. Why do you suppose this is the custom? An innate disrespect for women? It is so strange to hear, in the same sentence, Biden and Trump and then Kamala. Why isn’t it Biden, Trump and Harris? Why isn’t it Joe, Don and Kamala?
