According to the fact checker website, Snopes, Kilmar Abrego Garcia's wife filed a temporary protective order against her husband in 2021 and later dropped the charges. In a recent statement, Garcia's wife said that they had resolved the situation through counseling. It was noted that a protective order was not the same as a conviction of crime. Snopes also reported that the claim of Kilmar Abrego Garcia being a member of the MS-13 gang had been debunked. Sending Mr. Garcia, or anyone, to a prison in El Salvador without an opportunity to defend themself in court is wrong and unconstitutional. Left unchecked, any one of us could suffer a similar fate.
