The words "equity" and "equality" as used today are indeed different. Equality refers to equal opportunities, while equity now means equal outcomes. Big difference. Many of us believe in equality, such as under the law, while we don't believe in equity as currently defined--that some people should be advantaged over other people to achieve equal outcomes.
