Seems the more we see what is frequently labeled "fake news," is now accompanied with what might be characterized as "fake headlines." Case in point: a recent internet Associated Press headline read that Phil Mickelson Caught Breaking The Rules Again. . . , which lead to a subsequent headline that read Phil Mickelson Breaks Rule Again. Brief article went on to say that . . . tamping down fescue grass with his foot. . .he then called a two-stroke penalty on himself for improving his line of play. Get the picture? Or more to the point, the cause? The operative word of course is "caught." Who caught Phil? The AP would like you to believe that some one other than Phil himself. That may work in today's political forum. But it's not likely to work on the golf course where a professional code of ethics still speaks frequently to a different cause. . .like honesty.
