When I read recently that lawmakers had passed a bill that would require hospitals to inquire about a patient's immigration status, I immediately contacted the Governor's office and expressed my hope and desire that this inhumane bill would be vetoed. I want to publicly thank Gov. Hobbs for her action to prevent this bill from becoming the law here in Arizona. Every day we are asked to do and to be better. This veto will be one step in saying "no" to cruelty and to saying "yes" to compassion and empathy.
