Bill Belichick has six Super Bowl rings and no Hall of Fame bust -- what exactly is the holdup? And how does Mike Shanahan, with back-to-back titles and 170 career wins, still get passed over? Both sit on this ranking of the five most notable recent Hall of Fame snubs, and neither case comes down to the résumé. We cover all this, plus Torry Holt and the two trench cases that never get argued loudly enough, in a no-fence-sitting top-five list hosted by PFN's Ian Cummings. Hall of Fame week arrives with all five of these names on the outside, and every August, the ballot behind them gets more crowded. ---------------- The Hottest Takes You'll Hear ---------------- Bill Belichick's six Super Bowl titles are two clear of Chuck Noll's four, and his combined regular-season and playoff wins trail only Don Shula, meaning the case against him has nothing to do with football. Mike Shanahan's 170 career wins would rank eighth among Hall of Fame coaches, and his post-title record of 115-109 is the single number holding his candidacy back. Torry Holt logged seven seasons above 0.25 EPA per target and led the NFL in postseason targets, receptions, and first downs as a rookie in the 1999 playoffs. Kevin Williams put up 53.1 cumulative disruptive EPA in 2004, a top-three single-season mark among defensive tackles in PFN's data, with Aaron Donald the name ahead of him. Marshall Yanda's 96.5 PFN offensive line impact score in 2019 ranks third all-time, and he started all 166 of his career games in Baltimore. ---------------- Watch Next ---------------- The Hot List Shows → https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF00H5PHVAoipdPGq6vFK6naGxJJzo9Mo Hit subscribe → youtube.com/@PFN365?sub_confirmation=1 ---------------- PFN's FREE FOOTBALL TOOLS ---------------- NFL Playoff Predictor → pfsn.app/nflpredictor NFL Mock Draft Simulator → pfsn.app/mockdraft NFL Ultimate Redraft Simulator → pfsn.app/redraft College Football Playoff Predictor → pfsn.app/cfbpredictor Fantasy Mock Draft Simulator → pfsn.app/ffmockdraft #NFL #HallOfFame #TheHotList
