We are sharing Arizona Daily Star reporters' and photographers' favorite work from 2020. One common theme this year has been "change." Here are photographer Rebecca Sasnett's favorite five photos from 2020.

Fave Five: A change in fitness

Fave Five: A change in fitness

While gyms struggled with the pandemic restrictions, many members workedout at home with family or friends using house hold items, bodyweight or rented equipment. I had the chance to follow some gym members around, like Kina Barton and Darren Barton, as they struggled to change their workout routines due to the pandemic. Kina Barton, left, and Darren Barton, right, members of CrossFit Milo, perform sit-ups while working out at home with their daughter Abby Barton, center, inside their living room in Tucson, Ariz., on April 27, 2020. "Our 7-year-old is enjoying us home more and she's participating," said Darren. "It's been kind of nice to be together for a bit," added Kina. "I love burpees," said Abby.

Due to the pandemic, car parades became common for celebrations such as birthdays and graduations. Here Michelle Leon Cordova, mother, hugs her son Sahuarita High School senior Lino Cordova, who is fighting cancer, after staff members from Diamonds Children Center, friends and the Marana Police Department celebrate Lino's graduation with a car parade outside of his home on May 13, 2020 in Sahuarita, Ariz.

Fave Five: A change in social injustice

Fave Five: A change in social injustice

After the video of George Floyd's death spread, mass protests about social injustice and police brutality were reported worldwide as well as vigils, like the one in Tucson at The Dunbar Pavilion. After listening to speeches, hundreds of supporters bring candles in honor for George Floyd during a peaceful candlelight vigil at The Dunbar Pavilion: An African American Arts & Culture Center, 325 W. 2nd St., in Tucson, Ariz. on June 1, 2020.

Sports also changed from having packed arenas to no fans, athletes taking a stand against social injustice and police brutality as well as wearing masks and using sanitizer to fight the pandemic. Here FC Tucson and New England Revolution II players link arms for a moment of silence after the National Anthem before the start of FC Tucson's USL League One game against New England Revolution II at Kino Sports Complex, in Tucson, Ariz. on September 16, 2020. FC Tucson won 1-0.

Fave Five: A change in the election

Fave Five: A change in the election

Another aspect which changed was the election. Many voters chose to vote by mail and others chose to wait in lines to place their votes. Arizona was a battleground state in the election which sparked the candidates to make campaign stops in Arizona. The election, also, further increased the political divide, according to a study done by the Pew Research Center. Here Rafael Leidy, right, starts a wave with the crowd while waiting for President Trump to speak, during a "Make America Great Again" Campaign Rally at Tucson Jet Center, 6720 S. Plumber Ave., in Tucson, Ariz., on October 19, 2020.
