The Tucson Fire Department honor guard carries the remains of former Deputy Chief James R. Russell following a memorial service at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. Russell headed the effort to restore a 1954 Mack hose truck that is due to be completed by the end of the year and his own 1935 Ahrens-Fox fire pumper was used as a hearse for him. The truck hadn't run in 20 years, but Russell's best friend Dwaine Jungen fulfilled a promise to a dying Russell to get it running for his memorial service. James Gregg/Arizona Daily Star
