The 24th Fore For Kids Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, November 21 at the Oro Valley Country Club. Over the past 24-years, this tournament has raised approximately $560,000 for area children, after school programs, and scholarships. Children and Youth from Tucson, Oro Valley, Catalina, Oracle, San Manuel, and Mammoth have benefited from this tournament.
The Oro Valley Country Club is a private course, so people jump at the chance to sponsor and/or play in this fun scramble. There is a waiting list to play golf, and just about all the sponsorships are gone. The event also includes lunch, dinner, and a silent auction. Since the early days of this fundraiser, Fore For Kids has had wonderful support from the community and area businesses. Lute Olson, famed basketball coach from the University of Arizona, was a long time supporter, player and bidder at the silent auction.
This fundraiser supports area children and youth in a variety of ways. In addition to funding scholarships, funds also support after school programs that include tutoring, robotics, sports, sewing, baseball, horseback riding, and so much more. Area programs are funded through grants. Recipients have all applied for the grants.
This is just a small part of what our Rotary Club does. We are also involved on an ongoing basis with humanitarian programs and service projects throughout the copper corridor. From working at a small town 4th of July celebration to providing holiday baskets to shut ins, and cleaning up roads to passing out food and toiletries at the food bank, our Rotary Club is always looking for ways to make a difference.
To tell you a little more about the Rotary story, Rotary is the world’s first service organization. Today, Rotary has grown to be the world’s largest volunteer organization. Rotarians can be found in more countries than the Red Cross, Starbucks, or even McDonalds.
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is not only an award winning organization devoted to making a difference locally and globally, it is also a club that enjoys coming together for lunch and life long learning. We currently meet weekly at the Ranch House Brewery and Grill at SaddleBrooke Ranch and on Zoom for weekly programs. Plus, we enjoy getting together for social events and service projects. We have fun making a difference.
The Rotary Club of SaddleBrooke is open to anyone who is living or working in SaddleBrooke, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Oracle, Catalina, Oro Valley and all surrounding communities. For more information, call Wendy Guyton at (520) 404-5712 or send an email to wguyton17@gmail.com.
