On Instagram, vintage is in Vogue. Literally.
The Tucson boutique Desert Vintage, 636 N. Fourth Ave., made Vogue magazine’s Friday list of “12 Vintage Dealers to Follow on Instagram: Vogue’s Resident Expert Shares her Feed,” curated by Lilah Ramzi, a “vintage enthusiast” at the magazine offices.
“We just found out because someone tagged us on it,” says Roberto Cowan, who co-owns the store with Salima Boufelfel. “We were just picked out.”
Cowan and Boufelfel use Instagram to post some of their favorite finds that come through the shop.
“We are presenting older things in more of a contemporary setting,” Boufelfel says of Desert Vintage’s use of social media to reach a wide audience.
More than 4,700 followers keep tabs on the vintage flair that shows up on Instagram. Desert Vintage also manages Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr accounts.
“We were excited,” Boufelfel says. “Vogue is something we have always referred to. They set a standard for aesthetics and visuals and have some of the best photographers and creative stylists in the world. We’ve always read Vogue and kept up with it.”
Now, Vogue returns the favor.
