Wool in the summertime? Here? Yup. But we prefer it slung across a shoulder or dangling from our fingers in the form of these hot — in a good way — felted wool purses.
Jenni Pagano, a local interior designer and all-around creative person, snaps up old sweaters, felts the wool and creates these unusual bags. Old silk shirts line the insides.
"It's just a fun way to recycle," says Tana Kelch of Bohemia, where the bags are sold.
The purses sport fun designs, including an agave, cute quail and swirly sun. If you look really closely, you can recognize that the small bags were once sleeves, and a few bags have the telltale sign of banding from the bottom of a sweater.
The bags cost $40 to $85. Get them at Bohemia, 299 S. Park Ave., in the Lost Barrio.
