Splash N' Dash Aquathon

Two weeks ago, Sadie Silverstein, 8, gulped for air during a 200-yard swim at the Splash N’ Dash aquathon at the Marana Municipal Pool at Ora Mae Harn Park, 13250 N. Lon Adams Road. The six-date race series put on by Marana Parks and Recreation continues today. It features a two-part swim and run race for three age categories. Registration is $5 per person per race date.
Competitors ages 6 and up can race in one of three divisions based on age: 6 to 8 years old race a 200-yard swim and a half-mile run; 9 to 14 years old race a 400-yard swim and 1.5-mile run and ages 15 and up swim 800 yards capped by a 3-mile run. Races are at 6 p.m., with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. or online at www.marana.com/recreation. The next race date is June 19 with races every other week until July 31. Each entrant receives a t-shirt at the end of the series.
