LOS ANGELES -- Although Arizona guard Allonzo Trier made his first road trip with the Arizona Wildcats today, he will not play against Gonzaga.
Trier accompanied the Wildcats on their team and booster flight to Los Angeles on Friday and took part in some early warmups at the Staples Center. But he sat out final warmups along with injured teammates Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Ray Smith.
Trier will have now missed eight games and two exhibition games because of an NCAA eligibility issue that appears to be under appeal.
Players ineligible under NCAA rules often must pay their own way to road trips, though there are exceptions. Trier did not accompany the Wildcats to Honolulu or Las Vegas earlier this month.
