Week 9 Thursday Night Football prop bets: Texans vs. Jets player props for Aaron Rodgers, C.J. Stroud & more
Rodgers is coming off a 233-yard performance against the Patriots last week. He beat this line in two of three games at MetLife Stadium but is going against a Houston defense that holds opponents to 164.3 passing yards per game, the third-lowest amount in the NFL.
One of the main reasons that the Texans have been so successful at defending the pass is that they allow opposing QBs to complete just 53.06 percent of their passes, the lowest mark in the NFL. Rodgers also completed just 61.6 percent of his passes, his worst mark as a starter.
Not to be outdone, the Jets allow the second-fewest passing yards per game (161.1) and the third-worst completion percentage (59.82) to opposing QBs. Stroud has also been very up and down and averaged 139 yards in the two games before his last one, in which he ended with 285 yards.
The Texans have found a reliable running back in Joe Mixon, while the Jets’ defense has been vulnerable against the run recently. As such, Stroud likely won’t throw a ton of passes on Thursday.
Building off the reasoning above, Mixon ran for at least 100 yards in four of five games this season, including 102 last week. He got 25 carries in two straight weeks and will demand a hefty workload on TNF.
The Jets just gave up 111 rushing yards to the Patriots. They're 17th in rushing yards allowed per game (125.8) and raised that number to 136.7 over their last three outings.
Conklin caught a touchdown pass in each of his last two games, marking his only scores of the season. These might seem like isolated events, but they’re tied directly to the arrival of Davante Adams
Adams and Garrett Wilson demand attention from opposing defenses, which creates more space for the other players. Allen Lazard could also miss the matchup, which would make Conklin the third option in many of the Jets’ passing plays.
