There’s only one game on the schedule as the calendar flips to May, and it happens to be Game 7 between two rival franchises.
At 8 p.m. EST, New Jersey Devils (-118) host the New York Rangers (-102) at the Prudential Center in Newark after New York defended home ice in Game 6.
The total is set for 5.5 with the under (-138) being juiced and the over (+112) at plus money. The winner of the big game will face off against the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round.
Rangers vs. Devils props: Chris Kreider anytime goalscorer (+210 or better)
Chris Kreider has had an excellent series thus far, clogging up the front of the net and doing the dirty work on the Rangers' power play. While four of his six goals in the series came in the first two games, he still tallied three points including a goal in a must-win Game 6.
Kreider is a massive net-front presence and he’s great at deflecting pucks. He’s an excellent power play weapon and scores lots of goals with the man advantage. At +210 odds, there is value in taking him to score in Game 7.
Rangers vs. Devils Game 7 picks: Jack Hughes 5+ shots on goal (+108 or better)
Jack Hughes erupted this season as one of the game's brightest young stars, notching 43 goals and 99 points. He's kept up his play so far in the postseaseason, scoring four times and securing six total points in six games.
He had nine shots in Game 6 and has had at least five shots in four of the six games so far. At plus money, he's a good bet to keep firing on net, even if his SOG total is a very high one.
If the Devils are going to win, Hughes will need to play a big role and the young lefty is going to once again feature prominently in this Game 7. He's the star of the top power-play unit as well, so if the Rangers wind up in the box, it's Hughes' time to shine.
