With college football right firmly in sight, there’s no finer time to look ahead at NCAA football futures bets. Here, our focus is on 2023 Virginia Tech odds ahead of the coming season.
2023 Virginia Tech win total prop: Under 5.5 wins (-148 or better)
Virginia Tech really went through it last year. Its worst season since 1992, the Hokies scraped together wins against Boston College, Wofford and Liberty to finish 3-8 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
It was tough sledding for first-year skipper Brent Pry, who inherited a roster begging for talent upgrades at practically every position.
A program in a transitional phase, Pry took no time to bring recruits into the Hokie fold, securing the nation’s No. 44 ranked recruiting class ahead of the 2023 NCAA football season.
Highlighting that class was Baylor transfer quarterback Kyron Drones, a former four-star quarterback who provides Virginia Tech with dual-threat ability under center. He’s still locked in a battle with redshirt senior Grant Wells for the starting spot, however.
Quarterback position aside, Va. Tech has a mountain of issues to address to truly compete in 2023.
Their running game was abysmal last season, as the Hokies only averaged 110 yards on the ground -- and that was with two starters at center and left tackle that they lost in the offseason.

The defense is also undergoing a rebuild, with contributors TyJuan Garbutt and Dax Hollifield departing.
The story for the Hokies is a boatload of question marks, and that should not inspire confidence in their overall outlook for 2023.

The Virginia Tech Hokies will not contend for a National Championship in 2023, and it will be a tall order to envision them sniffing the ACC Championship.
Currently, the Hokies sit at +40000 to take home a national title, and +9500 to win the ACC.
It should prove to be another rebuilding year under Pry, as he attempts to bring an influx of talent back into Virginia Tech program.
