While it's not the "flashiest" game on the Week 9 slate, the Baltimore Ravens vs. New Orleans Saints could be the most competitive with two teams need to keep pace in the win columns of their respective divisions.
The first eight weeks of the NFL season has been for the dogs.
Against the spread, underdogs are 68-52-2 (57%), while underdogs of 4 or more points are 39-22 (64%) ATS this season, according to CBSSportsHQ.
And we've taken notice.
This Sunday, I’ve got three teams who are 5.5-point underdogs or higher, including two that are 12.5 points or more – see: New York Jets (+12 to Buffalo) and Tennessee Titans (+12.5 to Kansas City).
While the Bills and Chiefs have the most potent offenses in the league, those are big spreads for the teams they're playing. Consider Buffalo didn’t cover the 10.5 points last week against the receiver-less Green Bay Packers and the Chiefs haven’t been double-digit favorites all season. While the Jets are 5-3 ATS and the Titans are 5-2.
I also had the Houston Texans within the 13-point spread against Philadelphia on Thursday night. The Eagles won, but didn't cover.
We’re also still rolling with the Atlanta Falcons this week to pull the upset over the Los Angeles Chargers and win straight up as 3-point underdogs. The Falcons are tied for the league best ATS at 6-2, with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, both of which are on a bye this week.
My other money line win as an underdog is the Seattle Seahawks (+2) over the Arizona Cardinals. Pete Carroll’s bunch is 5-3 ATS and 4-2 as an underdog.
Here's hoping the dogs have one more day.
Now, on to the picks!
