Ironwood Ridge is already showing the dominance we expected to see. The Nighthawks are off to a 3-0 start and have handily put away all their opponents this year — they've outscored the three schools 137-54 and have put up more than 30 points in each game.
Although I-Ridge has to travel to Canyon del Oro on Friday night for the Oro Valley Super Bowl, the Nighthawks are still capable of taking home the W. Expect I'Ridge and senior running back Soma Ikaika Helu — who rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns last week — to be back on top of the rankings next week.

Without playing a game, the Lancers rose again this week in our rankings, from No. 4 to No. 2. Salpointe Catholic probably deserves it — the Lancers are 2-0 and have passed both of their tests this season with wins over Phoenix St. Mary's and Mountain View, both quality big-school opponents.
Now is when things could get interesting for Salpointe. The Lancers host our No. 4-ranked team Tucson High, which has the potential to hand Salpointe its first loss of the season. Regardless of the winner, Friday's tilt between these two teams will certainly be exciting, and the winning team will without a doubt gain some momentum going forward.

The real story of this week's power poll is the rise of Cienega. The Bobcats were ranked No. 7 last week, but have since jumped to No. 3 following a 40-14 win over Waddell Shadow Ridge last Friday. Behind junior quarterback Jamarye Joiner, who has been offered a scholarship by the UA, the Bobcats have averaged 46 points per game this season. Joiner rushed for 36 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 70 yards in last week's win.
This week should be no different. Expect Cienega to improve to 3-0 after traveling to Nogales on Friday night.

After giving up a total of two points in their first two games, the Badgers dropped last week's game against Mesa Desert Ridge. But that's forgivable — Desert Ridge was the 2015 Class 6A runner-up. And Tucson High played relatively well despite the 38-14 final score.
Badgers coach Justin Argraves and his squad better have a short-term memory and get last week's loss out of their heads, as they travel to Salpointe Catholic to take on our second-ranked team Friday night.

Sabino barely squeaked by Queen Creek American Leadership with a 16-13 win last Friday to improve to 2-0. The Sabercats will now face another tough test this week as they travel to San Marcos, California to take on Mission Hills. The Grizzlies are 1-0 so far this season.
Sabino must rely on big games from its star players — do-it-all senior Drew Dixon is an Arizona Wildcats commit — in order to have a shot at bringing the W back to the Old Pueblo this week.

The Caballeros nearly dropped their home opener last week to Amphitheater, a team that went 0-10 in 2015.
This could be Flowing Wells' last week in the top-seven, as they host a Catalina Foothills team that's coming off a blowout loss, so the Falcons will be hungry for a win.

Here's the other big story of this week's power poll — Catalina Foothills dropped from No. 3 to No. 7 after being shut out 35-0 last week. But given that the Falcons traveled north to take on three-time defending state champion Scottsdale Saguaro, perhaps the score wasn't surprising.
There's no better time for the Falcons to get back on track than this week, as they travel to face sixth-ranked Flowing Wells. Expect Foothills' senior dual-threat quarterback Rhett Rodriguez to put on a show and lead his team to a victory over the Caballeros.
