An unforgettable week for the Netz siblings continued Friday, when Arizona announced that former pitcher Dawson Netz signed a free-agent contract with the Chicago Cubs organization.
Three days earlier, Dawson’s sister, Devyn, a two-way star for the UA softball team, learned that she’d be part of the draft pool for the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.
Arizona right-hander Dawson Netz pitches during the top of the first inning of Game 3 of the NCAA Super Regionals vs. Ole Miss on June 13, 2021, at Hi Corbett Field.
Dawson Netz pitched for the Wildcats from 2020-24 and appeared in 94 games, tied for second most among pitchers in program history.
Netz was part of two Pac-12 championship teams and pitched in the 2021 College World Series. He finished his career with a 6-2 record, a 3.98 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP and 130 strikeouts across 131 innings.
After going undrafted last year, Netz joined the UA coaching staff as a pitching analyst.
