The Pima College football team couldn’t bring home the first Western States Football League title in program history, falling 26-16 to No. 1-seeded Snow on Saturday in Ephraim, Utah.
The No. 3-seeded Aztecs lost to host Snow for the second time in three weeks. Sandwiched between was a Pima win at Arizona Western last week in the WSFL semifinals.
Snow jumped out to a 13-0 lead Saturday before Pima cut the margin to 16-10 at halftime. But Snow scored the first 10 points of the second half, and took a 26-10 lead on a field goal with 10:58 left.
Deontay Townsend scored Pima’s two touchdowns, both on runs of 2 yards. Wesley Payne led the defense with nine tackles.
The Aztecs (7-4) will now wait to find out if they will be invited to a bowl game.
